Raja Ampat: experiences, food & travel notes

A 4-day, 3-night plan leaves more room for Sorong–Waisai transfers. Spend the last night in Sorong instead of relying on a same-day boat-to-flight connection.

What to do · Stay within one island cluster

Use the exploration day for a cluster near your lodging. Arborek offers a village and craft visit; a guide selects snorkelling sites according to currents and access. Misool and Wayag are outside this short route.

Food · Try papeda when available

Ask a island lodge or restaurant about papeda with yellow fish broth. Its sago texture offers a change from rice-based meals. Actual menus follow local supplies, so communicate dietary restrictions before arrival.

Area tip · Plan around connections

Boat connections and lodging transfers matter more than a long attraction list. Confirm schedules, lodging location and power/water facilities in advance. Sea activities depend on weather; three nights do not equal three full touring days.
